Advice will be coming soon from people who know better. My personal opinion. Run! The religion is the first problem. The second and biggest problem is the guy. He is in a JW family and he doesn't have the guts to go against it. I am not sure what's worse a devout JW or a nominal JW who wants to quit but doesn't have the guts to do so. Either way: Run!

mr penton, the author, says he has included jws attempt to deal with 1914 and their new light on the governing body being faithful and discreet slave in this new edition.

If I want objective and scholarly writing, Penton is my favorite author. My only issue is that the price of his other book dealing with JW's in Germany is still very expensive (around $45.00). I found a copy in the library, but it's only for consultation. -

What went wrong in your congregation?
by The Rebel inthe target is converts.. why does it seem such an outrageous aim for a congregation to recruit new converts?.
in my old congregation, the enthusiasm was there but the knocking on doors produced zero " baptisms" in my final years.. a) why so little interests?.
b) was it the internet ?.

You make a great point. I have been in your shoes many, many times, even in my own house while hosting 20 or 30 JW's. It didn't bother me much, until I discovered that the leaders are full of it and they know it. Not only that, they are willing to use their BS to manipulate, control, enslave, and ultimately ruin many a life.
The internet is their biggest problem. Another problem is the training that JW's get. It's mechanical, staged, no passion, no conviction, no zeal. I don't blame them, too much BS and cult tactics prevent the production of great preachers.

My two cents,
In the organization or outside of the organization, our abilities diminish as we age. Even if our skills remain sharp, we should allow younger ones to take positions of responsibility so they can train and be able to handle the job on their own.
What happened to your brother is a fact of life in any sphere of the human experience. We are born, we mature, we age into decrepitude, we die. We should accept this cycle and happily train and pass the responsibility to the younger ones. Your brother has a selfish, rather narrow-minded view of his role in the big picture.

Sister attendants not able to give directions to a brother..Misogyny
by Theburstbubble inat our recent rc i was advised by a sister who was an attendant that they have been advised not to be able to give brothers directions as this should be dealt with by the brothers.
apparently at the pre-convention attendants meeting, the sisters were asked to stay behind.
this was when they were given the news that the brothers should deal with brothers.

in 2014 the ratio was 6.5 to 3.5. Big drop in just seven years (according to Pew research)
I just made some numbers, based on the Pew numbers and the JWFacts publisher statistics, and the net increase between 2007 and 2014 has been about a million women and about a meager 100K men. The problems of this medieval times religion are becoming more obvious.
I am going to have to ask my son to take a count of my wife's congregation to see if the Pew's numbers are represented there.

The Org is terrified of apostates
by SecretSlaveClass ini knew apostasy was a serious concern for the org, but until i watched this video, i had no idea how afraid they actually were.
all this guy wants is to do is not turn in his fs hours and immediately they (elders) set about drilling him about who are what influenced his decision, as if he was incapable of making his own (which as the elders confirm, in the org is highly discouraged).
they are convinced he has been communicating with apostates or visiting apostate web sites.

One problem with your conclusion is that it misses the fact that there is more than one convention per circuit, per year, where people get baptized. You are not taking into account the people baptized during the same year, in the same circuit, but in a different convention. However, this error may be offset by the fact that not all attendees are publishers and that some missing in the convention have faded or disfellowshipped.
Interestingly, your figures reflect the statistics of the Pew Research of 2014, in the U.S., that revealed that the ratio of men to women in JW land is almost 1:2 or 1/2
